''Twisted Metal'' is a series of vehicular combat video games originally developed by SingleTrac and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The series has appeared on the PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 3. As of October 31, 2000, the series had sold 5 million copies. Several of the games in the series were re-released as part of the Sony Greatest Hits program. The original game and its first sequel were also released for the PC. Overview Each game in the series revolves around demolitions derbies where competitors use weapons including ballistic projectiles, machine guns, and explosives. Players choose a vehicle (each with a corresponding character) and an arena—or a series of arenas in the story mode—to engage in battle with opposing drivers. The last driver alive is the winner. David Jaffe
David Scott Jaffe (born April 13, 1971) is an American video game, video game designer best known for directing the ''Twisted Metal'' and God of War (franchise), ''God of War'' series. In 2009, he was chosen by IGN as one of the top 100 game creators of all time. Biography Jaffe is originally from Birmingham, Alabama and currently resides in San Diego, California. He was born to a Jewish family. Jaffe graduated from Alabama's Mountain Brook High School, located in Mountain Brook, AL, a suburb of Birmingham. Jaffe then attended the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California, Los Angeles. Jaffe is known for directing the Twisted Metal, ''Twisted Metal'' series and ''God of War (2005 video game), God of War''. Jaffe's ''Twisted Metal: Black'' and ''God of War'' have both ranked into IGN's "Top 25 PS2 Games of All Time", with ''Twisted Metal: Black'' in ninth place and ''God of War'' winning first place as IGN's best PlayStation 2, PS2 game of all time. Greatest Hits is a branding used by Sony Interactive Entertainment for discounted reprints of PlayStation video games. The branding is used for reprints of popular, top-selling games for each console in the PlayStation family, which are deliberately sold with a lower MSRP than the original production runs of a game, and feature special branding—colored in red since PlayStation 2—on their box art, as well as red-colored cases on PlayStation Portable, PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 releases (instead of the traditional clear or blue-colored casing).
